Weld-On® 4SC is a water-thin cement that develops into a very clear, high strength bond with many thermoplastic substrates within a matter of minutes. The initial bond increases significantly in strength over the course of several hours. Weld-On 4SC is preferred for some applications because it is less likely to leave white marks (commonly called blushing).
SUBSTRATE RECOMMENDATIONS
Weld-On 4SC is a blush-resistant adhesive specifically designed for acrylic to acrylic (poly-methyl methacrylate) bonding. Also strongly recommended for thermoplastics such as polystyrene, CAB (cellulose acetate butyrate), and polycarbonate to themselves.
To achieve proper cohesion, first soften the surfaces to be joined and then fuse them together with the dissipation of the solvent. Strong butt joints are made with flat sheets by using the soak method. Do not use around flames and high heat as product is somewhat flammable.
Used extensively for fabrication and cementing of:
Acrylic letters to flat presentation panels
Trim capping of cutout letters
Display & presentation cases
Medical equipment
Plastic containers & pre-forms
Solvent welded structures & subassemblies using the capillary method
